Our Mother's Fight Against Breast Cancer

Our mom, Mevie Mahaffey-Davis, was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer after a routine mammogram in Sept 2018. She had a partial mastectomy, plus the removal of 4 lymph nodes to check for the possibility of the cancer spreading to this area. The tests came back as being Stage 2B Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Out of the 4 lymph nodes they took, 2 were malignant. She has gone through 6 weeks of chemo and 30 days of radiation. After the chemo was completed she was admitted into the hospital due to severe complications for 7 days. After radiation was completed, she was admitted again with complications from the treatment for 6 days. Before that time, she was already having trouble meeting her copay's for doctor's appointments and meds for her diabetes, neuropathy and a heart condition. She is now "hemorraging" in medical expenses. My brother and I help out as much as we are able to in the financial area. And don't know where we'd be without the assistance from our generous friends and family. She is on a fixed income and at times, has had to choose between paying her utilities or going to appointments. We are in a waiting period before they will run tests again to see if the cancer is in remission. But until that time, she's in urgent need of financial assistance to help with all of the medical bills and prescription costs.
