Our mom with uncovered medical expenses.

This is our devoted, loving, and faith filled mother Larissa Smith-Faison. Our mother is the epitome of strength as she has been suffering from an undiagnosed medical condition for several years. Our mom has been searching for answers in every way imaginable, inclusive of various doctors in multiple states. This journey has and continues to impact our mom physically, mentally and financially. Although our mom strives daily to function as normal as possible, normal for her is a major decline in her quality of life. Our mom is a very private person and has suffered in silence. At this time she can no longer remain silent. We can no longer remain silent! Her husband, a disabled veteran, can no longer remain silent. Her Sisters, family, and friends who have watched the deterioration can no longer remain silent! You see, our mom has always been vibrant and active, involved in all things family and community, and a safe space for any and every one in need. Four years ago our moms body basically went haywire with no explanations which has led to tremendous unexplained weight loss, intensive and unmanageable pain, home stricken 80 % of the time, an increased number of “growths” that can’t be removed at this time, a brain lesion, and several surgeries in various areas of her body in an attempt by doctors to “fix the problem”. At this time we continue to seek answers and my mom is hoping to be accepted into the Mayo Clinic and NYU Medical Center. We have learned in the most difficult time and in the worst way that the healthcare system is not favorable to people like our mom. Although she has health insurance her health insurance does not come close to covering what she needs to exist daily let alone what she needs to become well. Our mom has modeled for us what it means to pray, she has demonstrated what it means to smile through the pain, she has given us the best example of faith in action and because of that she believes, we believe, that her healing is on the horizon. Although her faith is strong, the pain, the debt, and the emotional impact are all contributing to the weakness that has become evident. We, along with our dad and aunts, pray that someone’s heart will be touched, moving you to donate to helping my mom continue on her journey to first find the root cause of her condition and then to find a cure. Now that we have created this GoFundMe we will take those of you who choose to donate on the journey with us sharing costs and how money will be spent.
