Our Mom, Joanne Dodson—Sadly We Say Goodbye

My Mom, Joanne Dodson, was the best Mom anyone could wish for. She and I were best friends, sharing a bond so special that we could talk about anything. We laughed together, shared jokes, and she had a way of making everyone she met smile. My older brother and I both shared this deep connection with her, talking to her every single day. Now, with her gone, there is an empty space in my heart that feels so broken.

Joanne was a truly remarkable woman. Even on her hardest days, she pushed through with a strength that amazed everyone around her. She prayed daily—her favorite was Psalms 23—and she was always ready to help a stranger or lift someone’s spirits. She built a house with her own hands, complete with a beautiful koi fish pond, and her talents seemed endless: building, fishing, sewing, cooking, cleaning, learning, planting, and writing. People admired her honesty, her strong will, and her unwavering kindness. She loved her grand kids more than anything, always making them her first priority and filling their lives with love and laughter.

Joanne gave love with her whole heart, putting her family's needs before her own and never complaining. She was like a superwoman—strong, devoted, and always there for us. She made sure to tell us she loved us every single day, and her grand kids never went to bed without a hug from her. She was the main piece of the puzzle that kept our family together, and her presence filled our home with warmth and laughter. She just celebrated her 56th birthday on April 7th, and we are grateful she had a wonderful day surrounded by love. She was the grandmother every child would want, and the life of our home.

Now that she’s gone, our house feels quiet and lonely. I don’t know how to do everything she did, or how to move on without her. Her passing was so sudden and unexpected—she wasn't sick, and this tragedy happened out of nowhere. My brother and I didn't have time to prepare for something so tragic like this, and now our hearts are broken. I am a mom of six, and these financial times are especially hard. I want nothing more than to give our mom the proper burial she deserves, to honor her memory and all the love she gave us. If you can help, please consider donating or sharing our fundraiser. Your support will help us lay our mom to rest with dignity, and it means the world to our family. Please, love your mom every day—you only get one, and you never know when that day might be the last. I thank God for giving me the best mom I could ever ask for, and I hope to carry on her legacy of love and strength.
