Our Maci Girl Needs Your Help
Donation protected
Hello friends and family
We are requesting prayers, positive thoughts, good vibrations, donations, anything you can spare for our Maci girl.
She hasn't been herself the last two weeks, moving slow, not eating meals, not playing like she normally does.
We took her to the vet Tuesday, they took samples for lab panels to hopefully get some answers. I received a call yesterday to go over her lab results and did not receive the news we were hoping for...
Her hematocrit level (percentage of red blood cells) is at 18%, severely low and in need of blood transfusion. The normal range is 37-50%. This means her red blood cells don’t have enough oxygen. They stated the want to find the root cause of anemia first, as the blood transfusion treatment is costly and starts at $3-$4k.
In addition to the anemia, her liver enzymes are extremely elevated. The normal range is anything less than 120, Maci's level is at 4,000. This indicates a severe infection/liver damage or cancer. To find the cause of the elevated liver enzymes they need to do an ultrasound, they should be able to determine if it is infection, cancer, mass, etc. They may also have to biopsy the liver for additional diagnosis assistance.
She has the ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow and we are desperate to know what and if treatment options are available.
Some may think, “Why do all this and spend all that on a dog..?”
To Thorne and myself, she isn’t “just a dog” she’s our baby girl, our kiddo. We don’t/can’t have kids and she is so special to us. She not only brings joy to us, but to everyone she has ever come into contact with. Everyone who’s met Maci and knows her, loves her.
The diagnostic tests tomorrow alone are almost $1000 combined. We will find a way but if you’re able to help we will be forever grateful.
We are praying this is something that will be treatable. We aren’t ready to let go of our sweet baby just yet.
