Our Little Warrior Nathan

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Ariel Munoz. We are fundraising for Nathan. We had a pleasure of coaching him on our t ball team Spartans. This message is from his amazing/strong mom. Anything helps this beautiful family!

On May 17th Nathan was rushed to the hospital with his first seizure. They ran CT scans and tests and could not find a reason behind it. They ruled it out as a possible small concussion and let us go back home. He then had two more seizures within a weeks span after that. After his third seizure the doctors decided to look further into the cause. While the Doctors ran tests after tests Nate started loosing control of his own body. It started with his speech, then his walking, then he couldn’t eat on his own, and finally his entire right side of his body began to twitch uncontrollably. The doctors started treatment right away, but unfortunately because Nate could not control his own body the treatment did not work. He lasted a week with uncontrollable body movements and mood swings. Getting agitated each day because he knew something was wrong but he couldn’t use his voice or body to tell us. The doctors finally had a lead after the test results came back and diagnosed him with Anti-NMDA Encephalitis. This is a type of brain inflammation caused by antibodies. Basically Nathan’s own immune system was attacking his brain. About one out of 1.5million people get affected by this virus a year. Unfortunately Nate was one of those people. There is no reason why other than luck. We have been here in the hospital since then by our baby boy’s side. Praying and having faith in God that he will get better. He has finished the second treatment which is plasmapharisis to filter out his blood. He still is fighting and holding on strong as we had to place him in a temporary coma so that the doctors can continue to treat him and work on getting him better each and every day. It has been the hardest 3 weeks of my life, but just like Nathan has always been a Strong little boy, I continue to stay Strong for him.
Those of you who know Nate can tell you that he is one tough cookie. He is the sweetest most caring little boy. Always putting others needs before his own. He is a Warrior and just like he knows it we know that he will come out of this. Although the doctors have told us he will take months to even a year to recover from this and that he may more than likely need to go to an out of town neuro rehab center, we still have faith.
We greatly appreciate everyone’s encouraging words and prayers for Nathan. We are grateful for everyone’s positivity and love for Nate. We’d like to raise awareness about this virus because it could happen to anyone. We’re ask that you help us and continue to pray for our little Warrior as he continues to fight. May God Bless you all!
