Some of you may not know this, but the mother of my kids, Amanda Daisy Garcia, has been fighting breast cancer for over a year.

Up until recently, things were looking hopeful. She was in good spirits, still going to work, taking care of the kids, and even working out. She was fighting hard.

While I was out of town, she started having severe headaches and bad reactions to a new chemotherapy treatment. She went to the hospital for scans, and that’s when doctors found that the cancer had spread to her brain.

The day I got back, doctors had to place a port in her head to help relieve the fluid buildup that was causing the headaches and to deliver treatment. After that, she began having severe reactions and had to be heavily sedated to manage the pain. She was transferred to a specialized cancer facility in Houston, where she is currently being treated.

The most recent updates have been extremely difficult. She has been having severe seizures and is not always recognizing people. I want to believe she will pull through, but I also have to prepare for the reality of what doctors are telling us.

Right now, my focus is making sure our kids are taken care of and stable no matter what happens.

If Amanda passes, I will need to immediately move the kids to Arizona so I can get them on a routine. This would mean:

-Taking them out of school in Texas

-Selling the house in Texas

-Moving all of their belongings to Arizona

-Enrolling them in school mid-year

-Covering school admission costs and before/after school care so I can maintain my work schedule

Amanda and the kids need me right now, and I will likely need to take time away from work to get life stabilized for them and be present, including spending time with the family who took me in when I was 17 with nothing but clothes on my back.

All funds will go toward:

-Bills and living expenses

-School admissions and childcare programs

-Moving expenses

-Helping keep the kids in their extracurricular activities so they can maintain some sense of normal life

If by some miracle Amanda pulls through, every dollar will go directly to her and her recovery.
