Hi my name is Dafna Bener, I am fundraising for my friend, neighbor and community volunteer Julia Currie, her daughter Alexandra and son Crixus.
Julia is a familiar face to all the North End Hamilton, as a friendly Good morning near the Bennetto Elementary School dropping off her kids, summer camps volunteer, or Bennetto family events at school always greeting all of us at the school doors for events like Movie nights.
She has a truly loving heart and always there for all of us..
Now it is time for all of us to return this kindness and favors.
On Victoria day Monday, their house at the corner of Hughson street North and Simcoe Street East, just across the Bennetto School burned down - actually for hours- consuming everything they own; such as Appliances (fridge, stove, washer, dryer...), Computer, family heirlooms, photos, Furniture , clothing...
And their 2 lovely cats are still missing.
Everything turned into ashes. Julia have been working hard, to get the best for her kids, advocate for them, work at every job she can to provide them as a single dedicated mother. Money was tight, life was a struggle and this was the last thing the breaking them down. The struggle was real, and she had to make the choice to bring food for the table and not to have renter's insurance as food was priority.
So they lost all.
They were placed for a few days at a hotel, now they need to move to a shelter.
The community had been great with clothing donations and calls phone and all, but still there is so much to replace and so much impossible to replace. so lets try to replace what we can and lets help them to have a less stressful times after this disaster.
in reality anything helps
thank you for reading
Julia and the kids thank to everyone's care and help...
