Hi, Patricia here from TapRoot Farms.
We have joined together with Noggins Corner Farm, Spurr Brothers Farm, and TapRoot Farms to support the Jamaican farm workers and their families who come to our farms each year.
Our farm teams have been hugely impacted by hurricane Melissa. Yam crops have been washed away, houses completely destroyed, roofs blown off, cars ruined, and belongings gone. Many have not heard any word from their immediate families yet.
Patrick's two sisters have lost their homes and he isn't able yet to share how his house faired. Our brother-in -law Dwaine, Orchard Manager at Noggins, lost his mama's roof in Broughton. Babo's & Peter's yam crops were swept away. Chris's moms house is 1/2 gone. The list goes on and on. Everyone on our teams are impacted.
We are deeply grateful for your support of our farms and our farmers. These days of unprecedented climate events are challenging us all in ways we could not plan for. Thank you for your support, your attention, your sharing, and your love.
We will collect donations for our team at TapRoot, Noggins, and Spurr Brothers to help ease the burden this hurricane has caused.
Your support will go directly to the members of our team to pay for extraordinary expenses of replacing the roof, accessing clean water, accessing food, accessing medical care, and accessing building supplies.
