Aloha, family and friends, if I could have a moment of your time, I'd like to tell you about one of the most generous, strong, brave and beautiful women I've had the privilege of knowing: My mother. For those of you who haven't met her, my mom Kelia Wright is one of the most tenacious people I know. All the way back from her younger years as a softball player to her adult life being a humble homemaker and cook for a homeless ministry, my mom has been a fighter. Whether it be against an opposing team or school bullies to the illnesses she's currently battling today, she has never once gone down without a fight. If she had a personal catchphrase, I think it would be "Rise up!" Not only does she constantly remind me and my siblings of this when we are in our lowest and darkest days, but she also consistently emulates that within herself every single day. For 16 years now, she has been battling fibromyalgia which causes her debilitating pain on top of a number of other health issues such as an internal infection and bleed from an unknown source causing blood, heart and thyroid problems. At times her illness may win the battle, leaving her bedridden out of sheer pain and anguish for days, but she will never let it win the war. Constantly she rises again to take on the next challenge thrown her way, despite how she feels and how much it sucks, she is ready and willing to fight for the things and people she loves. Her journey of trying to get better has not been an easy one at all. Over the course of these 16 years, she has seen multiple primary care providers as well as numerous specialists in a variety of medical fields, each one always telling her, "we don't know what's happening with you." But they all agree on one thing, something is definitely going on. It's a frustrating thing to hear for 16 years with very little, if any, progress being made and yet she still pushes on. She would even tell you herself, reciting John 11:4, that "this sickness will not end in death. No, it is God's glory so that God's son may be glorified through it." Her strength and faith in the face of sickness is an inspiring sight to see. Lately though, just pushing on is becoming a debilitating task for her as her condition only worsens as the years go by. She continues to do what she loves, serving the LORD, cooking for hundreds of homeless people and bringing them hot and delicious meals but her sickness seeks to steal that away from her as she is unable to reliably do things as time passes. So, today I'd like to ask any who are able and willing to help us in raising enough money for food, lodging and transportation so my mom can go to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona in order to receive the treatment she needs and reach one of her last hopes for answers so she can continue to do and be with the things and people she loves. Help us in showing some kindness back to someone who has shown her kind and beautiful spirit to her community. We would appreciate any and all donations you choose to make and would be eternally grateful for your generosity. Thank you very much.

Hello family and friends,
We have somewhat of an update. My moms Mayo Clinic doctor here in Scottsdale wants to completely remove her thyroid. We are currently awaiting the phone call to schedule the phone call to schedule the appointment. We are praying that it’s sooner than later. Not only because there would hopefully finally be some relief for our momma but also because we are running low on funds and need more help with extending her lodging and transportation. Further updates will be posted in the future.
