Our Home Was Destroyed by City Sewer Main Flood

Today, October 22nd is my “47th” birthday. But unfortunately, it’s not a very happy one! On the afternoon of Thursday, October 19th ~ our lives were forever changed. Our beautiful home (that isn’t even 2 years old), was completely flooded and destroyed by a city sewer line malfunction and explosion. The majority of the contents in our house, a lot of which was our children’s - got ruined, it’s all gone. While we are extremely thankful that nobody got hurt and we are all safe with a temporary roof over our head - the mental trauma and anguish from what we saw has been beyond overwhelming. Everything we’ve worked so hard for over the past decade, demolished right before our eyes and there was nothing we could do about it. ❤️‍ It’s catastrophic in every sense of the word! Our Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years are all ruined now. The demo and rehab of our house will take 4-6 months to complete, so we will be in an AirBNB during that time.

We honestly don’t know if we will ever be able to move back to that house - that’s how traumatizing this is for all of us. PTSD is a real thing, I can vouch for that! Our main goal and focus at this point is to keep life as normal as possible for the kids, while living out of boxes - eating out for the majority of our meals - relocating them to a new neighborhood for an undetermined amount of time, etc.

Everyone has been asking what I want for my birthday - what I really want is my house back the way it was! But I know that isn’t possible.
