Hi my name is Tilly and I'm raising funds for one our fur baby's Winston.
Winston is an 11 year old Whippet and we adopted him December last year. He joined our family, and made it complete. We also have another Whippet called Dave. Both had lost their doggy siblings and instantly connected with each other.
Winston is such a beautiful soul, he's gentle and loving, and we love him with all our hearts.
Unfortunately, at the time we were looking at pet insurance for him, I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. So our minds were a little elsewhere, and we didn't sort it in time.
Then about a month ago we noticed a lump on Winston, so we took a photo and decided to monitor it. 10 days later it had doubled in size and turned red and looked quite aggressive. The vets thought it looked suspiciously like a cancerous tumour. So we booked him in for an operation to remove it. We were beside ourselves with worry due to him going under anaesthetic at the age of 11. But he came through, he woke up and the operation was successful. This cost us £700.
Since then, Winston has had extreme diarrhea, we are sleeping downstairs with him so he can get outside for the toilet, he's going out every 2-3 hours. We've had probiotics and gut friendly food from the vets (more cost).
Slowly he's gone off his food and now is not drinking water, right now we are syringing water into his mouth so he doesn't get dehydrated.
As we wait for a call from the vets, we expect they might need to put him on a drip to stop dehydration.
In the meantime, we are also dealing with the cancer diagnosis, I start treatment soon and we are going to have to think about who stays with Winston whilst we are at hospital. More cost.
We are asking for help from our friends to give a little bit to help our beautiful boy Winston all the vets costs.
He might be 11 but he has lots of life left in him yet.
We thank you for the bottom of our hearts.
Tilly, Tom, Dave & of course Winston xox
