With great sadness and urgency, we ask for your help.
Kaiser is not just our dog — he is a dearly beloved member of our family. He is 5 years old, has always been healthy, full of energy, and with an enormous zest for life.
Last Tuesday, Kaiser ingested a foreign object that caused severe internal damage. On Wednesday, we took him to the veterinarian, where he was diagnosed with an intestinal blockage. He underwent emergency surgery at Clínica da Guia, in Alcantarilha, to remove the object, which cost €1,662.
After the surgery, he began eating light food, but then stopped eating, started vomiting, and showed signs of lethargy and discomfort. He continued making abdominal sounds, and his intestines were still not functioning normally.
Despite all the treatment, Kaiser is still unwell and now requires a second surgery to try to correct what is preventing his recovery. The estimated cost for this new procedure is about €1,000.
We are an ordinary hardworking family with three daughters and two dogs: Bud, a Golden Retriever who was abandoned at our doorstep, and Kaiser, a mixed-breed dog we took in from a litter born on an abandoned property near our home. We cared for the mother and her puppies, fed them, and found homes for all except Kaiser, whom we decided to keep.
We never imagined going through a situation like this, but the truth is that what we have already spent far exceeds our means. We are now financially unable to continue the treatment. The mere thought of having to euthanize Kaiser because we cannot afford his care breaks our hearts.
We are doing everything we can, but we urgently need help.
If you are able to contribute any support, we would be immensely grateful. We just want to give Kaiser the chance to continue living the happy life he so dearly loves.
With hope and gratitude,
The Baltazar Family
