Our Friend Elaine Chinnis Needs our Help

Elaine was diagnosed over 20 years ago with Evaporative Dry Eye Condition and Physicians started treating her for this. Unfortunatley, at that time they didn't catch that she also was suffering from Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). Therefore, due to this misdiagnosis, her disease has become far more advanced.

Elaine is no longer able to work or use a computer, she is in significant pain, her depth perception is now so compromised she struggles to walk down the stairs, and her ability to drive is becoming more limited. Even taking her beloved dog Cleopatra for a walk is becoming more and more difficult. Without treatment she will go blind. However, there is a new treatment that can improve her condition. Unfortunately, due to the misdiagnosis her chances of improvement are not as good as others with this condition, but could still be as good as up to 70%. The treatment will manage and stabilize the disease as there is no complete cure.

This newest treatment is called Intensive Light Therapy (IPL). This isn't covered by her Health Insurance and is also why she needs our help. The treatments cost around 4K and requires 4 months to see if the treatments will eventually work. Elaine will need us to help with her housing expenses also during this time.

We all know Elaine as a positive, hardworking fun loving friend who has always donated her time, support and efforts selflessly for her community and friends.
