Hello friends.
My name is Iris Soto. I am a friend of Moises Joel Medina, aka, CANDELA. This I say with a profound sense of honor for I know that my relationship with my Friends is a privilege.
I’ve contemplated much on how to express myself in a compelling way that can reach the hearts of folks with an understanding that asking for a helping hand, for a contribution, for a gift, for your prayers and positive vibes, will help lessen the burden he and his family might carry during this time. The support of our friends is invaluable.
I will share with you that Moises have been battling Cancer for a long while now. He is not giving up and we are all hoping and keeping faith for a miracle.
He is being cared for by a team of friends that are taking turns with his daily needs. We always strive to give him the best quality of life possible. Although weak, He is conscious and aware of his surroundings. He enjoys the company of his friends. To all who have come through, know that his family is in profound gratitude. Please feel free to share your precious company with him, however, as per family request, and respect to Moises, please, do not post Photos or Videos of his current delicate condition on social media.
It’s in his character to give it all he’s got. Candela has contributed his musical and artistic talent to his community and beyond. He is generous with his musical passion. He has been showcased on the stages of Florida, Calle Ocho, and N.Y, with the likes of well-known artists, colleagues and friends. His contributions have made a mark on the Puerto Rican Culture. His rendition of “QUE BONITA BANDERA” is a staple of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade as well as the Parade held in his beloved Borough of the Bronx. His love for community has merit him awards and citations by leaders of the community, events and organizations that included those standing up against Cancer. His own experience with this devastating illness prompted him to create the Candela Cancer Foundation. His social media hashtags, #IWillNotLose, #CandelaStrong, #DontCollapse, #Faith, #Unbreakable, #WhoAgainstMe, #Warrior, reflect his fighting Spirit and willingness to live and share his story of Survival with you, his friends.
Candela is presently at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. Visiting hours are 8am to 8pm. You do need immunization card and id to visit. Two folks at a time. If you need further information or have any questions you are welcome to message me privately on this platform.
Please keep CANDELA and his family in your Healing Prayers. God is in all things, in all moments.
Know that in a most gentle way, you can make a difference in the life of others.
In Gratitude for your trust and your loving contributions.
