Our friend Benny needs your help!

Our friend, Benny Thatcher, has a life threatening auto immune disease, and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, which has resulted in cirrhosis of the liver. His only hope of seeing his two kids, Frankie (9) and Jay (5), grow up is a life-saving liver transplant.

 

Before he got seriously ill, as well as being a devoted dad and husband, Benny was a much-loved children’s entertainer and early years’ educator. He’s someone who’s always given so much to others, raising thousands of dollars for children's literacy, and spearheading campaigns for Indigenous Australians and Marriage Equality. Now, he needs our help.

 

He is currently on a transplant waiting list, but is getting sicker and weaker each day. He urgently needs more support. His wife Jo is currently the breadwinner, but will soon have to stop work to help care for Benny and their two children.

 

We are fundraising to help this young family in their time of need. Benny has multiple medical/care needs as he awaits a transplant, and will also need round the clock support, should he be lucky enough to secure a donor, to get him back on his feet.

 

His illness has already taken a huge toll on the family. Benny is currently too weak to look after, or even play with, the children; hospital stays are the norm and, with covid restrictions, the children desperately miss their dad.

 

Jo works in TV Production but right now she is struggling, as she strives to juggle Benny’s needs with those of her young family,  alongside the demands of a full time job to provide for them financially.

 

When the time comes for Benny’s transplant, we want Jo to be able to be by his side, and to be there for the children. We want them to be able to cover all the costs of caring for Benny, and his rehab, without the additional stress of facing crippling debts.
