OUR FORCED RELOCATION

Donation protected
Hello friends, family and fans!
Countless folks have told us to do this … we’ve held off for a while but it's time to ask for some help.

As you probably know, after 8 years (and being assured that we had a long term home), Like No Udder has to leave Ives St. by April 1st - just when we are really getting into our 2024 season. After processing the shock and an exhaustive search and negotiation, we have found a great home on Hope St., minutes away from our current location. The new location will allow us to offer more and support more vegan businesses - like including Providence Vegan Deli in our space. Combining our businesses under one roof will help share in the much higher overhead than we've been used to. This location is, without question, going to be amazing for us and the neighborhood.

We’ve always looked at Like No Udder as a space that brings people happiness & joy and a place that supports other like-minded people & businesses and, of course, the animals! We’ve always been proud to use our space, resources, time, and platform to lift up the community, individuals, businesses and animal welfare organizations. We hope you look at us in the same way and would like to support something that is much more than an ice cream shop (and soon to be vegan deli too!)

While we’ve consistently saved so we could be prepared for the inevitable “surprises” that come with operating a small business, the reality is having to create another ice cream shop from scratch is not a surprise anyone could have foreseen. Money raised will go towards everything from the build out (electrical, plumbing, construction, flooring, signage and more), moving expenses, permits, lost income for a month and a half, and a few pieces of equipment.

We’ve decided to work with GoFundMe for our campaign. It’s more flexible than other platforms and ultimately has the lowest fees we have come across.

We are choosing to go this route because your donations/gifts would be considered taxable income if we gave away items in exchange for your offering. This would end up eating a ridiculous percentage of the money we receive. We’re setting our goal at $20,000. Our hit is so much greater than that. Even with the funds raised here, we will likely have to take out a loan. But with that said, we are confident that in time, we will be okay.

We always do our best to give back when we can. So we've decided a good way to do so is to offer free ice cream to the community, based on how much we ultimately raise. Our plan is: for each $1000 we collect, we will offer 100 free ice cream cones at a free cone day at the shop. If we are lucky enough to find ourselves in a position to pass out a lot of ice cream, we'll make the call on how to do it. Could be another free cone day (or more) or we'll pass out free ice cream at a local park or event. We want to make this fun, while finding a way to give back. You'd be helping out the shop, kinda throwing a party and participating in delicious activism!

Ellen, Carl, Emily and Taylor have given countless hours of their time to help curb expenses. Their faith in what we do is priceless and they deserve at a bare minimum, a public shout out.

No amount is too small. If you aren’t a fan of crowd funding or aren’t interested in funding a 14 year old business - we understand and appreciate that you’ve read this far. We have to close 170 Ives St. on Sunday, March 24th. Please support us in our final days on Ives St. and be sure to visit our new home at 783 Hope Street when we re-open (hoped for opening in early May).

We'll continue to work hard every day. We'll continue to practice gratitude. Thank you for believing in us.
