Our Final Hope Against Leukemia - We Need Your Help

Donation protected
Welcome, and thank you for visiting our GoFundMe page. We've created this fundraiser to urgently raise funds for our brother Ken's next phase of leukemia treatment--his last remaining option Unfortunately, this second-line therapy is not funded by the NHS trust, which is why We're turning to you for help. Without your support, it will be a struggle to afford this critical treatment, and Ken's chances will be significantly impacted. Your generosity will give him the opportunity to continue fighting.

Here is his story

In March 2020, our world changed when my younger sibling, Ken, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). As the world grappled with the outbreak of COVID-19, Ken began his cancer treatment- facing both a life-threatening illness and the isolation that came with a global pandemic. What followed was a long and difficult journey: months of chemotherapy, hospital stays, and emotional strain that tested him and all of us around him in ways we never expected.

By June 2023, Ken had completed treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), marking what we hoped would be the end of a long and painful chapter. Unfortunately, complications from the intensive therapy led to severe joint damage, and by August of 2023, he required a total hip replacement, requiring months of recovery and rehabilitation. It was another hurdle in an already overwhelming journey.

Fortunately, the early months of 2024 saw better days for Ken-his health had seen much improvement after the hip
replacement surgery and the long course of ALL treatment, and he even booked a trip to the Philippines to reconnect with family. However, this positive news was only shortlived as shortly before the trip, his immune system deteriorated significantly, and the hospital strongly advised against traveling. As a result, he had no choice but to cancel, adding yet another setback to an already challenging journey.

These treatment-related complications and recurring infections continued into the beginning of 2025. Ken was even hospitalised only a couple of days from new years day for neutropenic sepsis-a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. These episodes persisted throughout early 2025, until he was met with another devastating setback: a diagnosis of therapy-related myelodysplasia, a condition caused by the very treatments that had once saved his life.

To make matters worse, the therapy-related myelodysplasia (t-MDS), as it so often does, progressed into therapy-related acute myeloid leukaemia (t-AML). This progression is particularly devastating, as t-AML is one of the most aggressive and difficult-to-treat forms of blood cancer. Often triggered by previous cancer treatments, it brings with it a significantly poorer prognosis and very limited treatment options.

Because of the t-AML diagnosis, the hospital swiftly began his main course of treatment-CPX-351, one of the most aggressive and targeted chemotherapy drugs available for this type of leukemia, often reserved for the most high-risk cases due to its strength and potential. Sadly, in Ken's case, the results showed it wasn't as effective as we had hoped.

This has now brought us to a second-line treatment-our final remaining option Unfortunately, this treatment comes with a significant cost and isn't covered by the NHS. The total cost is £12,000, covering a three-month course at £4,000 per month This is why we're reaching out now-to ask for your help in giving Ken a fighting chance.

We know times are difficult for many, and it's never easy to ask--but any contribution no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to giving Ken a real shot at recovery. If you're unable to donate, simply sharing this page with others can make a world of difference. From the bottom of our hearts thank you for taking the time to read Ken's story and for standing with us in this critical moment.
