Our Feral Cats Desperately Need Your Help!

Donation protected
I have a very sad story for the reason that I am creating this GoFundMe. As many of my personal friends and FB friends that follow HUGO‘S JOURNEY TO LOVE AND THE FLOOFS, know of my love for dogs and cats. You also know that I feed feral cats on Wednesday nights. I have posted numerous pictures/ videos of the feral cats that Marsha and I feed. This past Monday, I received a hysterical call from Marsha, she received a call from one of the feeders and was told Mommy and her baby were shot in the head and killed. They were enticed with food and while they were eating some hateful person shot them.

Mommy and her baby were taken to the vet and it was determined, the baby was shot twice in the skull and mommy was shot in the jaw and the back of her head. They indicated they were shot at point blank range with a BB gun.

Marsha, Paula, Jack, and several others did a search of the area for the other cats. Another one of our cats was found dead. We also found a baby raccoon and an Iguana, both shot with a BB gun. Upon further search, we found one cat shot in the eye, another cat shot in the mouth, both have survived so far. We also have one cat that is limping but no noticeable wounds.

Last night the cat that was shot in the eye was located and we got permission to enter the area to try and catch him. Jack, Paula and I were out there for hours as we forced our way through thick brush to try and catch the baby. Unfortunately we were not able to do this and he is still out there. We are desperately trying to catch him and the other cat that was shot in the mouth.

The four of us were out there again this morning for 4 hours trying to make our way through the very dense brush to find any of the wounded cats, but we’re unable to locate any of them. However, we located the momma raccoon (she had 4 babies) that was shot with a BB gun. We were asked to see if we could extract the BB from the raccoon for evidence. Paula and I did our best to try to remove the pellet, however, once we had opened up the raccoon, we were not able to find it. I think Paula would agree with me that never in our life would we think we would be doing a dissection of the deceased animal. Without hesitation, Paula and I did what we had to do. As you might expect the buzzards were flying overhead waiting. We told momma raccoon we were very sorry about what happened to her and what we had to do to her and to rest in peace.

The remaining cats are so frightened they don’t want to come out for food. Tonight we were back out there to see if we could trap any of the ones that have been injured. Unfortunately, we were not successful at that. Some of the cats did come out and had some food. Unfortunately, the one that was shot in the mouth is not able to eat. We are trying to catch him first so we can get him to the vet before she starves to death and/or dies from infection.

One of our biggest concerns was Miss Kitty, she is the friendliest kitty there and will sit in your lap while you give her lots of love. She was wandering around the parking lot last night and this makes her a very easy target. She was picked up and taken to a safe place.

A criminal investigation is going on, we have spoken to many law enforcement agents. Not only did we love these cats, and take care of them, but the law enforcement also knew about these cats and love them. Something I did not realize until yesterday.

We are still trying to wrap our heads around who would want to do this to these helpless animals. These babies were not a nuisance to anyone. They were dropped there by people that didn’t care and have lived there for years. Some are babies from Mommy. We have tried to trap mommy numerous times to get her spayed, however, she always caught on, so we were never able to fix her. There’s numerous feeders that take care of them twice a day and sit with them and show them love.

We are trying to trap the injured cats first, and then we will be trapping the ones that are alright as of now. Hope Gold has been instrumental in helping us with our mission. She has brought the unalive cats to the an animal hospital to determine what caused their death. She has also found a sanctuary in Ocala that will allow us to relocate the cats where no one could ever harm them again.

I am asking for help for all of us that takes care of these cats so we can get medical treatment for the cats that are injured, trap the other cats, get them to the vet, vaccinated, and then transport them to the sanctuary where they will live out their lives, safe, cared for and loved.

It breaks my heart that “our” feral babies will not be here any longer where we can see them, take care of them, and show them love, but it’s more important to get them out of the area so no one else dies. This horrible person(s) will not stop until he has killed every single one of these innocent babies.

If you have it in your heart and able to donate any amount, even $1 we all would appreciate it. Thank you so very much.
