After a normal day,
My daughter gave birth to Esmari at 24 weeks via emergency c-section very unexpectedly.

Mariah didn’t know she was in labor or having contractions. She woke up from sleep feeling like she was having growing pains. After using the bathroom, she saw a little blood, so she and Jaylon rushed to the emergency room. They found that Mariah was 10 centimeters dilated and in labor, but Esmari was in a breech position, so Mariah was rushed into an emergency c-section and had Esmari 30 minutes after arriving at the hospital.

Esmari was born weighing 1 lb 6 ounces and 11.8 inches long. When Esmari was born, she had a brain bleed. Where she creates spinal fluid, as the brain bleed clotted, it clogged where her spinal fluid drains, creating her to build fluid and pressure in her brain.

Esmari ended up having brain surgery to put in a reservoir so that they would be able to tap and drain it whenever she needed. As Esmari got older, she started to make more fluid, so they started to drain it every other day to every day as she needed it to be drained more often.

Esmari has been in the NICU for 3+ months and is probably going to be there for another 4-6 weeks. The emotional, physical, and financial toll has been overwhelming. So we’re asking that if you're able to donate or pray for our granddaughter Esmari, it would be very much appreciated as me and Esmari's grandpa Gary have been helping with hospital and other bills as much as we can.

Esmari just got her shunt put in on 05/27 to help her drain her spinal fluid since she’s not able to do it on her own, and it was a success. It is now the next day after her surgery, and she’s having a very rough and eventful day. Esmari has 4-10 people at her bedside every 1-2 hours doing tests, taking x-rays, and trying to make her as comfortable as possible. Esmari has had a couple of moments where she’s in pain and gets mad to the point where she holds her breath, which causes her nurse to have to press her staff assist button to help her get Esmari to breathe. They even had to bag her because she couldn’t breathe on her own. She’s starting to do better, but we’re hoping to have a less eventful evening.

If you feel moved to donate and help Esmari and her parents, any amount will be appreciated as they navigate NICU expenses, medical bills, time away from work, and the long journey ahead.

Your support, no matter what it is, is very much appreciated.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts with love and gratitude from Esmari, Mariah, and Jaylon.
