Hi my name is Jill and I'm asking for help on behalf of the Munoz family during this extremely difficult time. Please read below:
Over the past few months, Aidan had been having some stomach issues, since we had the flu in May we took him to his doctor and a GI specialist. Both said it would have to work its way through his system. Then about a month ago, we noticed his stomach getting swollen and kept asking him if everything was OK and if he was feeling OK. He just always said he was full, he felt full, his back and he wasn’t able to get comfortable to sleep.
On July 31 we had a pool party, and he was playing bags, basketball, and swimming. Then at night I just felt something wasn’t right. I took him to Community ER and within 3 hours we were in an ambulance arriving at Comer Children Hospital. They did an MRI w/ contrast at Community and did not like what they saw and sent us to Chicago.
When we first arrived, they were looking for an infection of some type based on his symptoms. For a few days we were waiting and waiting. His stomach was full of fluid, and they didn’t know where it was coming from. They were able to put a drain in his stomach and they were hopeful they would be able to text the fluid to figure out what steps to take next. As we waited for the results, we were both with Aidan while Mya was being taking care of home!
Finally, after being here almost 2 weeks we have a diagnosis. Aidan has Burkitt Lymphoma. He will be on a 4-6month treatment regimen at Comer Children Hosptial in Chicago. We will be here for 2 more weeks ( for treatment) and then be able to go home, but will have to travel back & forth.
It is a very fast growing, intense, but very treatable cancer. We are still in shock at everything. We have been able to be here with Aidan the whole time, thankfully to our amazing friends and family. We are truly blessed and thankful for everyone.
At the same time that got here with Aidan, Manny 's company (YELLOW) closed and he lost his job. I am able to work remotely, in thanks to my great staff that is all working together at a team!
Aidan is the best big brother to Mya and he loves her so much. It has been hard for him to be away from her. She has come up to visit but she just wants to be all over him, which is a little hard right now-

As you can see if the diagnosis wasn’t hard enough to navigate thru add on losing a big chunk of income. Money is the last thing my sister and brother in law need to be concerned about.
Everyone has been so generous but these next couple months are going to be crucial . So I am hoping we can all rally together to really make sure they are taken care of. This will be all used for gas, bills , anything Aidan may need and just the financial relief .
Aidan has made such a huge impact on everyone's life and he will push thru this and ring that bell.
We love you so much Aidan♡
