For those that know me, you know some of my story. For starters, I was injured at work on July 31st and was told I can't come back due to the restrictions the doctors placed me under. On August 5th, I was diagnosed with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). This is something I will have for the rest of my life. Ironically, it is also something that the one doctor (pain management) that can treat me is not covered by the only insurance I now have after losing my job. I have Medicaid through the state instead of private insurance because I lost private insurance when I lost my job. Without treatment, my disease will only get worse faster. With treatment, I would have a much better and higher quality of life, but I just can't afford it.
Week before last, I took Brandon to the doctor due to him gaining 40 pounds in a very small amount of time. The doctor said he doubted anything would be wrong other than calorie intake, but he'd run some blood work. Ever since then, my life has been turned upside down. Within hours, the doctor's office was calling to say that the results warranted an emergency ultrasound the following day. Within hours, we received another call about the findings needing a CT scan. They still weren't telling me what they were looking for, but when we pulled up to the cancer center for the CT scan, I started demanding answers. They started running more tests and they are finally sending him to a hepatologist and finally doing a biopsy to see if the growths are cancer or not, but either way, he will probably need surgery on his liver.
I cannot keep up with my everyday bills as is, being I can't work. I have filed for disability but was told all I can maybe get is SSI, and in my state, the review process takes on average 343 days. Now, with medical bills for Brandon on top of everything else, I don't know what to do. So, I'm now reaching out to family and friends for help. If you can't help, I understand as the economy is horrible, but if you can, you have no idea how much it would mean. So, thank you for at least hearing our story, and an extra thank you if you're able to help.
