Support Jacob’s Recovery After Cardiac Arrest

Please help to restore our family.
We are rebuilding after the unimaginable.
On December 27th, my husband underwent a scheduled heart surgery. Everything went beautifully until his heart stopped 3 days later. He received CPR and cardiac massage for an hour, was airlifted to the UofM Medical Center, and placed on life support. He was in a coma-like state for 2 weeks until his heart stopped again. We were told he likely wouldn’t make it, but he started to wake up the next day.
Three months, five surgeries, many complications, and even more miracles later…we brought him home just in time to celebrate our son’s second birthday.
We are filled with gratitude for the life that was spared and for what we have overcome, and in the same breath, we are facing another series of obstacles. Jacob is under strict lifting and movement restrictions until his chest heals. His wound did not close properly, and this will take months. He needs an implanted defibrillator, which means more medical procedures and the end of his 20-year career as a welder.
In the meantime, Jacob is unable to work, and my work hours have been decreased. There is a minimum of a 6-month gap between now and a more stable financial situation. Medical bills have started to come in, and we are making less than what we need for basic monthly expenses, let alone specialist copays and prescriptions.
My husband is a fighter. I am a fighter. We have so much to live for, and we need help making it.
