WE ARE SO CLOSE!!
We have made it to Oregon however California was kind enough to put 380k people on hold to verify identity. We are one of those lucky families. They say 6 to 8 weeks. We are frantically looking for work while hemorrhaging money staying at Motel 6. How can they do this to people? It's our income. They gave us the name of a shelter in San Francisco. The motel has offered to let us stay free until we get the funds to pay them. Phew. Food is our only issue now. If anybody can help we again would be very grateful and pay it forward. I have already signed up to help the local food bank but because of the virus no volunteer sign ups right now.
Thank you from the bottom of our

I am soooo embarrassed and humiliated that I have to ask you for help. Life was actually going great until... After our family has been living in the same house for 28 years, We have been EVICTED WITHOUT CAUSE. The day after the governor made it illegal to raise rents or evict anyone our landlord raised the rent 10%. Two months after that we got notice he wanted to sell his house right NOW. So by September 30th at 5pm we must be out. I'm not sure how someone can be so cold and emotionless after so many years. The rent was always paid and we never asked him to fix anything.
Thankfully two of our kids were able to relocate with their spouses families. That's one weight lifted. That leaves the three of us. We had a small savings that was depleted keeping up with rent and bills after both my husband and our son lost their jobs because of Covid 19. We were still doing ok with the unemployment helping greatly. Well that is gone except for a small amount from the state. We are basically flat broke. We have been waiting and hoping for unemployment to kick in again or a stimulus check again. Both my husband and son work in a field that requires large groups of people gathered and that wont happen anytime soon. Due to my heart failure and a new antibiotic resistant infection, I am unable to work for at least 3-6 months.
We realize we must leave California. Its cheaper to move to Oregon than to stay in California. Rents here are insane. We have enough saved to rent the truck. We still need to rent a car trailer, rent a car (the one we are towing will not make that drive alive), locate a home and pay deposit and first months rent and fill the fridge. The boys have already started looking for work in that area but it is a little too soon to start applying for or calling. We would like to go up to Astoria the first week of September to nail down a home but we cannot afford it at this point. We were paying $1,980.00 here, You can rent a 3 bedroom home for $1,500.00 in Oregon, the same here would be minimum $4,800.00 We must leave.
I am so sad that we are leaving everyone we know and love. Every moment of our lives has been here. I am terrified we will be homeless. We are the ones who usually raise money for relief or an elderly person who needs food etc. Unfortunately we are now the ones who need your help. We are selling everything we own except the basic essentials. I am selling handmade earrings and bracelets online and If anyone knows anybody renting in Oregon, please let us know.
WE thank you from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can do. I will do my best to repay or at the least pay it forward as soon as we can. We know there are so many more people that need help right now and are grateful for yours.
