Hello fine people!

Our story is a long and complicated one. We escaped a very abusive home with the help of someone we thought we could trust, only to find everything they said was a lie. Bills they said they'd paid were unpaid and when they disappeared with what little savings we'd managed to scrape together, we were left unable to continue living where we'd moved to. That was the start of what's now been a year of being homeless, despite two of us having jobs (I'm disabled so that's more of a challenge for me). Over the year, we've lived in a tiny car, a tent, and not very safe motels (seriously, there was a police raid that made the papers busting a fentanyl ring). Also during this year, our car died. It would have cost five times what the car was worth to try to fix it and we didn't have the funds. And that brings me to why I'm here, writing this. We desperately need a car. Both for work, and to get me to very necessary medical appointments. I haven't been able to get to the doctor and my health is suffering for it. And with where we're staying currently, there's no public transportation close enough to make it possible for me to use it (the closest bus stop is 40 minutes walk, and I'm unable to do that, physically). Additionally, a car is safer than a tent or a field, or a garage owned by abusive, controlling people.

Once we are on our feet, we will pay it forward.. But first, we need to be able to get on our feet. A car would go a long way. Both my daughter and son in law have good job offers, but without a car, they'll lose that opportunity. And as for me, a car would allow me to financially contribute as well as take care of my health.

I realize these are difficult times for many, and we're not looking for anything fancy or brand new. Just a reliable car with which we can jump start our way back to being on our own feet.
