Our puppy Mira had been less active than usual for a few days before we took her in to see the vet about it, we were told it was likely just an eye infection and given eye drops, it was also recommended that she get her rabies shot the same day. We were hesitant given her sickness, and asked if it could interfere with her immune system’s ability to fight her illness, but the doctor assured us it wouldn’t be an issue and went ahead with it. The next morning she was more lethargic than we had ever seen her and her condition worsened throughout the day at the emergency vet. No specific diagnosis has been given yet, but they think it’s some sort of infection due to her white blood cell count (and ruling out other possibilities), and given how much it’s effecting her it’s very serious. The veterinarian told us her condition is critical and she’s showing signs of neurological symptoms. The bills are at the point that we don’t know how we will pay the rest of them, we were able to scrape together the down payment for hospitalization for 24 hours, but that only covered 75% of the total bill. If she needs another day of hospitalization, I’m not sure how we could get the funds together. Anything you can contribute would mean the world to us and our lovely puppy.
