HELP US GET VINYL RECORDS FOR OUR DEBUT ALBUM!

Hey! We're Chattanooga-based old-timey song-wranglers The New Quintet, and we've been patiently crafting our sound and big harmonies over the last three years, and NOW WE'RE READY TO PUT OURSELVES ON RECORD!

This GoFundMe was initially created so we could afford the studio costs, mastering and CD's, which YALL NAILED IT! Thank you so much.

Now, we'd like to use this platform to obtain VINYL RECORDS!

Our debut album Some Ya Do. Some Ya Don't. is releasing March 14th, 2026.

WHAT'S OUR STORY?
Coming together as a band was a slow, organic process, but here's the gist. Cody (guitar, lap steel and vocals) and Nicholas (vocals, guitar) first met at a songwriter shootout here in Chattanooga back in 2018, where people mistook one for the other all night, making the perfect icebreaker. They became quick friends, and soon realized they also connected on a musical level with complete ease. Gordon (clarinet, vocals) has been widely known around town for his prowess, and Nicholas heard about him in 2020, during the pandemic. The following year, Nicholas invited Gordon to record a few songs for his last solo record Folk Songs for Old Time's Sake, and it became a must-have collaboration.

Meanwhile, Emma (fiddle, vocals) and Jade (bass, vocals) had been singing harmonies for years in and out of other bands through college. They met Nicholas during a campout where they all jammed by the fire into the wee hours and instantly found blood harmonies and giggles. They too were invited to record on Nicholas' record, and Cody both engineered and performed for those sessions. Afterward all was said and done, everyone involved with the record had their first hang-jam. What we found, was gold. Not only was there a mutual fondness of one another's personalities, but the musical chemistry was instant, a rarity with a group of five relative strangers. After a few shows, it was clear that this was not a backing band for Nicholas, but it's own entity.
Thus, The New Quintet was born.

ABOUT THE ALBUM...
Our debut record Some Ya Do. Some Ya Don't. - as the title implies - is equal parts traditional songs you might have heard, and songs you likely have not. Half of the record, 7 songs, are originals that were written by Nicholas, Cody, and Emma. The other half, 8 songs, are all re-imagined traditional pieces in the American roots songbook. The whole record is as varied as our live set. There's Ragtime, Piedmont Blues, Traditional and Contemporary Folk, Celtic, Bluegrass, Old Time, and Early Country... with BIG HARMONIES.

WHAT DOES THE GOAL OF $5000 COVER?
Getting our initial goal would cover finalizing the recording and mixing process, mastering, online distribution, first run of CD's. THAT's BEEN DONE!

NOW we have our sites set on vinyl records. The total is around $3000 to get 150-200 copies depending on who we go with. We'd also have some advertising budget boost our presence and the record itself, and cover the 3% GoFundMe fee.

This is the brunt of our costs, but Vinyl records are selling like hotcakes these days. We're excited to partner with this Nashville-based company to crank out our first 300 records!

Nicholas has been using this Boulder, CO based mastering company for the last 6 years with his own records. They specialize in American Roots music, and have won several GRAMMYS with their mastering engineering team!

This company is known for their turnaround time, quality of product, and customer service. Nicholas has his "Folkin A" Shirts printed through them back in 2020 and raved about it, and we're jonesin' to share the quirky T's we'll have made. Design revealing soon!

You guessed it, Nicholas has been using this Oregon-based company for the last 14 years! Their quality and price is unbeatable, and their customer service team is phenomenal.

These folks are the best in the business at quality, long lasting vinyl stickers.

WHY IS THIS GROUP WORTH SUPPORTING?
Currently, there are no other groups performing the range of music with the instrumentation and vocal arrangements that we do. We all come from vastly different musical backgrounds, some teach music theory and some can only understand by ear, and that has helped shape our group dynamic. We've also spent A LOT of time getting to know each others successes, trials and tribulations through our group check-ins, which has allowed us to connect before we even get on stage, and all egos are checked at the door. Only our mutual dedication to the blissful elixir of melody, rhythm and texture remains.
