Our Dear Ute Luebeck

Ute Luebeck came to Davis Waldorf School when the class of 2016, (now Juniors in high school), was the 2nd grade.  She joined as a Master teacher having worked in Waldorf education for many years including on the continent of Africa, in Kenya.  After lovingly assisting the class of 2016, she took on the 1st grade; the class of 2018 (now Freshmen in high school.)  On the first day of school, she placed a key around each tiny neck and whispered into each tiny ear, “This is the key of knowledge.”  Such is the magic of Ms. Luebeck.

For 4 years, Ute Luebeck taught the class of 2016 to read, to write, mathematics, to speak and sing in German with impeccable accents... and how to waltz!  She taught them how to be mindful and gracious with one another.  She is a master storyteller! And as a theater & music lover she taught them how to “step up” as she would say, on the stage.  

When her daily time with the class of 2016 was done, Ms. Luebeck continued to bless Davis Waldorf School with her presence and wisdom: mentoring teachers; tutoring students; giving lectures based on her extensive knowledge of Waldorf education; advising parents; working on class plays (and… she never missed a play of her former students.)

When the class of 2018 gave their 8th grade presentations Ms. Luebeck was on the front row... every night.

Our beloved Ms. Luebeck has been battling pancreatic cancer.  

We would like to honor and support her so that she can pay mounting medical bills and, so that, strength-dependent, she can visit Santa Barbara, which holds a special place in her heart. 

We are so grateful Ms. Luebeck came to Davis Waldorf.  And grateful that the word "Waldorf" is so very often followed by the word "Community".
