Our dear friend Sasha is gone. His family needs our help

We are a group of close friends of the Slavskii family, and we are reaching out because Alexandr (Sasha) Slavskii passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2026. He was 49 years old, a devoted husband, father of four, and the primary provider for six people: his wife Olga, their four children, and their grandmother.

Sasha and Olga's story began as classmates at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. They built their life together from those student days - raising four children, nurturing their talents, and holding onto a shared belief that education and family unity are the only things that truly last.

Their family has already survived the unimaginable. The Slavskiis are refugees from Ukraine. Their apartment in Kyiv was severely damaged in a missile strike, and they have no home to return to. They resettled near Vienna, Austria, where they had only just begun rebuilding from scratch, without the time or means to establish any financial safety net.

Now, with Sasha's passing, Olga is alone in a foreign country, caring for four children and an elderly mother. Their world has been shattered twice: first by war, and now by the loss of a husband and father.

The pride of this family is their children. The two eldest are university students, at a critical stage in their education - they cannot work full-time without sacrificing the future their parents worked so hard to build. The two younger sons are competitive chess players who have already become State Champions of Burgenland, Austria, in their age categories. Sasha did everything he could to help each of his children's talents flourish.

We are launching this fund to give Olga the stability she needs to hold her family together and preserve what she and Sasha built with such love. Contributions will help cover housing, basic necessities for the children and their grandmother, university tuition for the eldest daughters, and continued training for the younger sons.

Olga is an incredibly resilient woman, but no one should face this alone. Any contribution, or even sharing this link, is a tribute to a man who loved his family more than anything, and a lifeline for a mother preserving his legacy.

Thank you for being part of their circle of support.
