Our dear and beloved Missy needs help

Hello I am Jennifer,

Our dear and beloved Missy needs help.

On January 12, 2023, Missy started developing flu-like symptoms while at work. She went home that night thinking that she had caught the flu. But her condition started to worsen over the next couple of days. She was brought to St. David's Hospital in South Austin where she was found to have Group B Streptococcal septicemia. The source of the infection was unclear at first. But Missy brought up to her doctors that she had been experiencing anal bleeding for several months. She underwent colonoscopy a few days later, revealing a big mass in the anorectal area. The biopsy obtained showed Squamous Cell Carcinoma In Situ.

Missy was treated with intravenous Penicillin and recovered fully from the infection that was in her bloodstream. It was determined that the bacteria came from the mass in her rectum, and found their way into her bloodstream.

Before being discharged, additional biopsies were obtained from the mass in Missy's rectum. Unfortunately, those biopsies revealed that the squamous cell carcinoma is invasive (and not just in situ, as the first biopsy suggested).

Missy has been off work for 3 weeks now. She is unable to get back to work because of the severe pain the mass in her rectum is causing. There are a lot of nerve fibers in that area, hence the debilitating pain that Missy has been dealing with.

Missy is set to meet with her Oncologist in the next few days. They are talking about her needing radiation and chemotherapy.

We do not know when Missy will be able to get back to work.

Missy is currently living with her daughter Libby, and Libby's 5 kids. In October of 2022, Libby got into a very bad motor vehicle accident that rendered her unable to work because of the injury she sustained in her cervical vertebral column. Because of this, Missy has become the breadwinner of the entire family.

With Missy not being able to work, and not having medical insurance, she needs all the help she can get to pay for her living expenses, and for all the medical care she will need to beat cancer.

We know that Missy will beat cancer. We are praying with her every day. But she badly needs our help right now to get her through this very tough time in her life. There is always calm after a storm, light at the end of a tunnel. We cannot wait for Missy to emerge triumphant.

We love our dear Missy.

Any help you can give her will mean so much to her and her family.
