Help Rory get a Seizure Response Service Dog
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Kayla, and I'm reaching out to seek support for my wonderful daughter, Rory. Rory is a lively and loving 4-year-old who has been dealing with some significant challenges. She was diagnosed with epilepsy at 22 months.
We recently found out she has been experiencing frequent nighttime seizures, sometimes multiple times a night. Rory is also autistic, which adds to her unique needs.
These seizures disrupt her sleep and put her at risk during the night. As her parent, I worry about her safety and find it difficult to sleep, often checking on her throughout the night. This lack of rest affects my own well-being and makes it hard to be fully present for Rory and the rest of our family during the day.
After careful consideration and research, we discovered that a seizure service dog could be incredibly beneficial for Rory. These specially trained dogs can detect seizures before they happen, provide comfort and companionship, and alert us to any nighttime disturbances so we can respond quickly. Additionally, the service dog will support Rory with her autism, helping her navigate daily activities more easily and confidently.
A seizure service dog would bring us much-needed peace of mind. Knowing that Rory has a guardian by her side, even as she sleeps, would allow us to rest more easily, confident that she is safe.
However, acquiring and training a seizure service dog is expensive, and beyond what we can afford on our own. The costs include selecting the right dog, extensive training, veterinary care, and ongoing support to ensure the dog meets Rory’s specific needs. The estimated cost for this process is around $30,000, and we are already in contact with a service dog provider to begin the process.
This is where we need your help. We are humbly asking for donations to help provide Rory with the support she needs. Your generosity will directly impact Rory’s quality of life, giving her a constant companion who can keep her safe, reduce her anxiety, and improve her overall well-being, as well as mine.
Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us closer to our goal. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your network would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read Rory’s story and for considering a contribution to her future. Together, we can make a significant difference in her life.
With gratitude,
Kayla and Family
