Our Dad’s Fight Against Lung Cancer

Hi, we are Mallorie Moore, Madeline Berning and Faythe Miller. We are creating this GoFundMe for our dad, Ted Miller, who was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer in February 2021. Our dad is a kind, selfless man who has provided for our family all our life and now it is our turn to give back and hopefully help ease a financial burden. He was a large contributor in our home financially,  and since his diagnosis has been unable to work. Our mother, Dana has her own flowerbed business, but unfortunately during the late Fall/Winter months is not able to work.  We are quickly approaching that time and want to help alleviate some stress for the both of them, so they can focus on getting our dad healthier.

 

Here is a little information about his diagnosis and treatment… In February 2021, during additional diagnosis and testing our father found out there was a metastasis in his brain and the cancer in his lung was inoperable. Due to this, the only way to beat this horrible disease was to fight with treatment including chemo and radiation. Our dad has already been through 30 rounds of radiation, 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 4 rounds of immunotherapy and a Gamma Knife treatment.

 

In August of 2021, he found out there was a potential growth on his liver and new spot near his esophagus and learned the best option was to go to MD Anderson for further test and guidance on the next step to take. He traveled to MD Anderson in September of 2021 with our mom, Dana and they learned thankfully the spot on his liver was not cancer. However, they did find out what was found in his lung was cancerous, so there had been new growth. They have been told the next best option would be more rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. He has learned that he will be able to do the radiation at our local hospital, but is still waiting to hear back on if he will be able to do the chemotherapy locally too. While we are all happy there is another option to take and fight this battle, we all know how much this is hurting them financially. As time goes by, the medical expenses and bills start to pile high. They have been working hard to take care of things on their own since the beginning of the diagnosis, but we have found it has become increasingly overwhelming and stressful for them.
