UPDATE:
All the love and support that has been pouring out is truly amazing. We couldnt have done this without each and every one of you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.❤
Our mom Linda has been able to secure an apartment in the city so she can be close to our dad and give him the support and tough love he needs to fight thanks to our supporters.
Our loving dad has completed his 7 days of Chemotherapy and was feeling pretty good up untill he had a spinal tap. The spinal tap has caused a severe headache to which he cant even sit up and is spending most of his time sleeping. Currently our dad is now in isolation due to a spiked fever and is being closley monitored. Please keep us all in your thoughts as this is not an easy road. We truely appreciate all the love and support to each and everyone!
Hi my name is Terri-Lynn and I am one of Melvins' 3 daughters. I am sad to share that our dad has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
Dad started to feel a little under the weather mid December in which the doctors diagnosed him with strep throat. After many weeks of not getting any better and dads health declining, Dad agreed to go to the hospital on January 11th, 2023 and on January 13th we were hit in the face with some pretty devastating news. Dad has cancer, a cancer that can quickly get worse if not treated. This meant an extensive treatment plan starting with Chemotherapy. Within a few days dad had to have a blood transfusion and was then admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital.
This all happened so fast, how could ones life change in the blink of an eye.
Our dad Melvin, 58 years old, hasn't even had a chance to retire and reap the real fruits of life. My dad's wife Linda and my two sisters Nicole, Britney and I have jumped in to help the best we can as our dad now needs to fight for his life. This man has to much to live for, he has the most loving family. He needs to be here to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
As the reality of real life starts to set in, Mel and Linda are going to need help from their family, friends and community. These funds are to ensure to help with medical expenses, accommodations, and travel. This allows Mel and his family to have peace of mind that the only thing he needs to focus on is fighting for his life!
We all love this man with our whole heart and can't wait to watch him kick cancers butt!!
