Last year, my dad was hospitalized after an infection spread to his bloodstream. The infection was so severe that doctors did not expect him to be able to save his leg—but he fought incredibly hard to keep it. He spent over 30 days in the hospital—11 of those in the ICU—fighting for his life. Since then, he’s endured more than 15 surgeries, multiple skin grafts, and over 50 doctor appointments. He’s also been re-hospitalized more than 10 times due to ongoing complications from the original infection.

What started in October 2024 has turned into a long and painful recovery journey. Unfortunately, the complications haven’t stopped. He continues to be hospitalized about once a month, and right now, he’s back in the hospital while doctors discuss the possibility of an above-ankle amputation.

All of this has made it nearly impossible for him to return to work, and he’s struggling to keep up with rent and everyday living expenses while trying to heal. He lives alone and has exhausted every resource available just to stay afloat.
