Help Our Dad Frank Get the Urgent Surgery He Needs

Hi, my name is Giselle and, together with my siblings Luisa, Bianca, Pancho, Frank, and Javier, we are fundraising for our dad, Frank.

This year was supposed to be filled with joy - my dad traveled all the way from Venezuela to Utah to be by my side for my wedding. Having him there meant everything to me as his youngest daughter. But what should have been a beautiful, stress-free time was overshadowed by a sudden health crisis.

While he was here, we had to rush him to the ER multiple times, where he got diagnosed with diabetes. The doctors told us we were incredibly lucky to have brought him in when we did because without immediate treatment, he could have passed away. Suddenly, we were thrown into a world of emergency care, insulin treatments, and strict medical routines. Managing his condition became a daily challenge - multiple types of insulin, careful blood sugar monitoring, and a strict eating schedule just to keep him safe. The ER visits, hospital bills, and medications left us overwhelmed emotionally and financially.

And now, back in Venezuela, doctors have told him he urgently needs surgery for his prostate. Unfortunately, the medical system there makes it nearly impossible to get proper treatment without paying out of pocket, and time is not on his side.

My dad has been a professor for many years, dedicating his life to teaching and shaping the lives of countless students. At home, he has always been the most hardworking, selfless person, putting family above everything. He traveled across countries to be with me for one of the most important days of my life, even while quietly suffering through undiagnosed health issues. Now, I want nothing more than to be there for him in this fight.

Hola, mi nombre es Giselle y, junto con mis hermanos Luisa, Bianca, Pancho, Frank y Javier, estamos recaudando fondos para nuestro papá, Frank.

Este año debía estar lleno de alegría: nuestro papá viajó desde Venezuela hasta Estados Unidos para acompañarme en mi boda. Tenerlo conmigo significó todo para mí como su hija menor. Pero lo que debía ser un momento hermoso y tranquilo se vio empañado por una crisis de salud repentina.

Mientras estaba aquí, tuvimos que llevarlo varias veces a la sala de emergencias, donde descubrimos que había estado viviendo con diabetes sin diagnosticar. Los doctores nos dijeron que tuvimos muchísima suerte de haberlo llevado cuando lo hicimos, porque sin tratamiento inmediato podría haber muerto. De repente nos vimos enfrentados a un mundo de cuidados de emergencia, tratamientos con insulina y rutinas médicas estrictas. Controlar su condición se volvió un desafío diario - diferentes tipos de insulina, chequeos constantes de glucosa y un horario de comidas muy estricto solo para mantenerlo estable. Las visitas al hospital, las cuentas médicas y los medicamentos nos dejaron agotados tanto emocional como económicamente.

Y ahora, de regreso en Venezuela, los doctores le han dicho que necesita con urgencia una cirugía de próstata. Lamentablemente, el sistema de salud allá hace casi imposible recibir el tratamiento adecuado sin pagar de su bolsillo, y el tiempo no está de su lado.

Nuestro papá ha sido profesor durante muchos años, dedicando su vida a enseñar y a formar a incontables estudiantes. En casa siempre ha sido la persona más trabajadora, poniendo a la familia por encima de todo. Viajó a otro país para estar conmigo en uno de los días más importantes de mi vida, aun cuando sufría en silencio con problemas de salud sin diagnosticar. Ahora, lo único que queremos es poder estar para él en esta lucha.
