Our Community Heroes: Ret. firefighter Duery Smith

These funds will be used to complete an epic documentary, Our Community Heroes.  The community heroes that we will be focusing on are our African American heroes of the fire service.  This documentary is so important because as we watch members of this nation attempt to hide, cover up, or erase the black experience from the fabric of this nation, we realize more than ever that we must be the keepers of our own history and expose what's being forgotten.    This documentary will benefit as an avenue for recruiting and educating people who are not aware of the achievements and challenges of black people in the fire service.  It will highlight the courage and injustices these men and women had to overcome to becoming some of the highest ranking firefighters in their respective cities; cities like New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, just to name a few.

We're gearing up to film one of the most expensive pieces of this project recreating these experiences, and we are in need of your help.  I am asking you to join us to ensure this project is brought forth with the depth and quality necessary to produce this epic explanation of the firefighters journey.  We know times are tough for a lot of us, so we are very appreciative and grateful to have your support to help offset the cost of bringing such a bold and necessary project into fruition.
