Our poor baby 4 year old Cat Cheeto unfortunately recently had to undergo an emergency surgery due to swallowing a sewing thread. He spent two days hiding away from us, we didn't notice he was sick until he began vomiting after drinking water and refusing to eat. On Friday, September 4th my brother took him to AMC Vet in Manhattan, they told us Cheeto had a thread stuck under his tongue and tangled within his intestines and they quoted us $6,000-$7,000 for his surgery. I was not present to help and my brother could not qualify for credit so the vet told us the least they could do was cut the thread out of his tongue for $250 and send us away. We decided to take Cheeto to Fifth Avenue Veterinary Hospital in Brooklyn, first thing in the morning on Saturday, September 5th. There, the vet told us he would perform the surgery for half the costs $3,000 up front. My brother agreed and I split the charges between my credit card and my paycheck evenly.
Cheeto survived surgery but the vet said he had alot of perforations or damage in his intestines, which resulted in several cuts to remove said damage and stitches. This led to incurring more costs post surgery (we are not sure yet how much more we will be charged but we're looking at upwards of about $1,500+ on top of what we've already paid off with my cards). If Cheeto has no leakage from the surgery, he will be able to come home with us to heal on Tuesday. If he has leakage, we are at risk of losing him. We are hopeful that Cheeto pulls through this and we just want him back home with us. Unfortunately, whether he makes it or not we are burdened with a $4,000+ vet bill.
I find myself saying I am not one to ask for money, but we are in a tough place. And I'm sorry to ask during a pandemic, when times are hard. But truly, anything helps right now whether it's a thought/prayer, $1, $5. Whatever you can.. Please help us with Cheeto. We miss him and would really truly appreciate any help at this time. Much love.
