Friends and Family

As most of you know I am currently pregnant with our second child. We found out during the 20 week anatomy scan that baby boy has a heart defect called D Transposition of the Greater Arties. This means the two main arteries carrying blood out of the heart – the main pulmonary artery and the aorta – are switched in position, or “transposed.”

Unfortunately this means the baby will need surgery shortly after birth to switch the arteries, and I will not be delivering in Clovis. We will be traveling to San Francisco to deliver, and baby boy will have open heart surgery during the first week of life.

Kev and I are extremely bummed but we are focusing on the positive and the things that are within our control. We are very grateful for the advancement of pediatric medicine and have been told this procedure is fairly simple, in surgical terms, and the odds of baby boy living a healthy, active, normal life are very good.

If all goes well this will be the only surgery he needs, but the unknown is still very emotionally suffocating. I have come to grips with the fact that his birth story is going to be scary but I know his life is in great hands.

We have started this Go Fund me to help with unforeseen living and medical expenses. If everything goes as planned we have been told to expect to be in San Francisco for about a month. However, we are also preparing ourselves that it is possible for things to change the moment baby boy is born. This time in our lives is  most definitely going to be stressful. So if we can relieve some of the financial burden with the help of our loved ones, we will be able to focus all of our energy on Kylie, and getting baby boy strong enough to leave the hospital.

Kev and I have agreed that all funds that go unused by us during our stay in San Francisco, will be donated back to the hospital to help the next family that has to over come this hardship.

Please keep our little warrior in your thoughts and prayers. He’s a McLendon so I know he is going to be the toughest little guy and will come out of this like a champion. We thank everyone of you for being part of our support system. We have amazing people in our corner and we wouldn’t be able to get through this without you guys by our side. From the bottom of our heart we love you guys!!!
