Our Cat Requires PU Surgery - Urinary Blockage

Donation protected
Our sweet boy Denver (4 years old) has had the most terrible week. As fur parents, we have too, had the most terrible week. On Saturday Morning (June 17th, 2023), we noticed that Denver was dripping small amounts of pee everywhere. He couldn’t control it and could not get a full pee out. After browsing the web, we realized that he may be experiencing a Urinary Blockage. Our regular vet was closed for the weekend therefore, we went to the one vet hospital in town that was open. After the examination, we we’re told that we had to catheterize him immediately. The vet told us that if we had not brought him in, he would have died that evening. We without a doubt agreed to the procedure without knowing that we would be far from done.We were sent home with Denver on Saturday afternoon with the catheter in. We had no idea how to take care of a cat with a catheter but tried our absolute best. Tuesday Morning (June 19, 2023), we went back to the animal hospital and got the catheter removed. We were then sent home with Denver hoping that he would pee on his own. I contacted my regular vet to update them and got Denver’s file sent to them ASAP so that they could take it over from there. Our vet bill from the first Animal Hospital was $1525.76. Wednesday Morning, Denver was able to pee on his own. Very little amounts but he could. We were so relieved and happy. It was Wednesday night that we realized that we we’re far from recovery. Denver was in immense pain, he had blocked up again. Thursday Morning, we call our regular vet first thing. We go in straight away and we get confirmation that he had indeed blocked again. We had to get another catheter put in however this time, appropriate care was followed and he was hospitalized. The catheter was removed Friday Evening however, Saturday Morning, Denver could again, not pee on his own and was full of crystals and mucus/pus. They put in ANOTHER catheter in on Saturday Afternoon and it was removed Sunday afternoon.Sunday Night (June 25th, 2023 - This Evening), our vet called and told us that we are to make a very difficult decision. It was clear that the catheters were not effective and the last and only option, was to proceed with a perineal urethrostomy (a very serious surgery that could potentially save Denver’s Life and gives him another 10 years to live.) Our vet bill with our regular vet is still pending however, we are currently looking at $1800.The required surgery can only be performed 2 hours from home and would require full hospitalization with 24 hour care for an unknown amount of time. The procedure itself is $2400 and depending on how things go, the vet bill could climb at a fast pace. A recap:1. First Vet Hospital ($1525.76) 2. Regular Vet ($1800) 3. Out of Town Vet For Surgery ($2400++) Please help us by donating to be able to help give Denver a chance to live the full life that should be ahead of him. He is our baby. Anything helps. THANK YOU ❤️Rachel and Cameron
