Forever With Us: Long Live Zuki Modunkwu

Hi everyone — my name is Queen and I’m fundraising on behalf of my brother Zuki Modunkwu, who is battling a rare form of cancer called collecting ducts carcinoma. If you have the pleasure and honor of knowing Zuki, that means you’ve known laughter, passionately defended conversations you’ll never forget, and the best moments at a wedding or birthday party captured on video recording. If you’ve known Zuki, you’ve known the biggest and brightest that life has to offer.

In Summer 2023, Zuki began experiencing severe difficulty breathing, and he couldn’t talk without coughing (and he loves to talk, so that was an immediate alarm). Initially diagnosed as sarcoidosis, these conditions were exacerbated by asthma symptoms he’s suffered since childhood, until a seizure took him to the ER the first week of September. It was there that we discovered that Zuki had stage 4 collecting ducts carcinoma, and that it had originated in his kidney and aggressively spread to his heart, lungs, and throughout the density of his skeleton.

While Zuki fights, his friends and family are leading this fundraiser to do our best to cover the major costs of his situation, including costs related to his medical care, coverage for his fiancee Melissa and their housing, storage, and transportation needs, food, and additional supplies and resources dedicated to Zuki’s wellbeing.
