Our Brother Ted
Donation protected
At 44 years old, our Brother Teddy Block, has suffered a massive stroke. Ted’s symptoms began with nausea and vomiting. As symptoms persisted, he began to feel dizzy and soon could not feel the right side of his body. He was rushed by Hatzolah to the South Nassau Mount Sinai emergency room where he spent 24 hours. Following a series of CAT scans, his condition worsened. He was transferred to Mount Sinai in NYC. This traumatic event was unexpected, to say the least, and has been a shock to our family.
If you know Teddy, you love him. He’s an amazing big brother, devoted son, loving uncle, proud dog Dad to Benny & friend to all. Our brother is one of a kind. Some people even call him the dog whisperer. Teddy is one of the kindest, generous and hardworking people you could ever meet.
He is currently in the Neuro ICU in Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. The first night he spent there, Ted was rushed into emergency surgery at 2 am. He received suboccipital decompression surgery to address the swelling in his brain. This procedure lasted 5 hours and created space for the brain to continue swelling while preventing further damage. He has a drain that is supporting the extraction of fluids building in his brain. At this time, Teddy is still in the ICU. Given these circumstances, it is remarkable that he did not lose his ability to speak and has remained conscious.
Currently, he cannot fully control the right side of his body. It will be a long and challenging road ahead. We are hoping and praying that in time, with rehabilitation, Ted will be able to make a full recovery.
We would like to thank our friends and family for the outpouring of love and support through this difficult time. We want to support our amazing brother.
We are asking for your positive thoughts and prayers for Teddy throughout his recovery. We have been raised by the most wonderful parents who have instilled strong values of always extending our hearts and hands to anyone in need. We have created this GoFundMe page to support Teddy with the considerable expenses and costs associated with his rehabilitation. We hope to all join together to support Teddy, so he is able to focus on his recovery.
Thank you in advance for your support, thoughts & prayers.
