Our Brother Clarence Needs Our Help Now

Edison Family:
Clarence has kept us safe in his role as a security officer at SCE for over 16 years. Clarence works primarily at our Westminster SSID facility, where his wife and long-time SCE employee Darline Gray works, as a member of our Compliance & Quality team.

On the morning of December 6th, Clarence was crossing the street to come to work. While crossing the street, Clarence was hit by a car and then dragged for 30 feet. He has severe internal and external injuries to his head, neck, collarbone, shoulders, legs, knees, and ankle, and has road rash and severe bruising over much of his body.

Shortly after arriving at the emergency trauma center, Clarence had to be revived by the rapid response team when his blood pressure dropped to 60 over 40.

After reviving Clarence, medical staff then popped his dislocated shoulder back into place. After his shoulder continued to pop out of place each time nurses moved him around to address the severe bruising, MRI scans revealed Clarence had severe rotator cuff tears and a broken collarbone.

Clarence has remained in the hospital since being hit, and has now had multiple surgeries to repair his broken leg and knee, a broken collarbone, a fractured ankle, and to repair the torn rotator cuff in his shoulder. His most recent surgery was on January 5th.

As of 12/18 (which was his last paycheck and only a 3rd of his pay), Clarence is no longer generating income for his family. He's been hospitalized and out of work for a month now. A release date from the hospital has not been determined yet. He may require additional procedures prior to and after release from the hospital, and will likely require a long recovery time, following this traumatic event--potentially 6 - 12 months.

Doctors have told Clarence he will never have the same mobility he had on the day he was hit, due to the severity of his multiple external and internal injuries, and it is uncertain at this time if he'll be able to return to work, or what role or capacity he'll be able to work, if he's able to return.

Darline has been by his side day and night, trying to keep Clarence's spirits up through a very physically and emotionally painful time, while also doing her best to manage things at home, but neither Darline nor Clarence wanted to ask for help.

Family shouldn't have to ask for help.

We've set up this fundraiser with Darline's blessing, and all of the money raised will go to Darline and Clarence, no middle man, no filter. If you have any reservations about the legitimacy of this fundraiser, please don't hesitate to reach out to Darline.

Please donate what you can, knowing you'll be helping out a dear member of our Edison family. It will be a long road to recovery, but Darline and Clarence have the strength for the journey ahead of them, with your help.

If you can't donate at this time, please keep Clarence and Darline in your thoughts and prayers, and donate when you can.

Thank you.
