In Loving Memory of Nastassia Reid
Help Us Give Her the Send-Off She Deserves
Hello, my name is Dorrel Reid, and I write this with a shattered heart and unimaginable pain.
On Friday, August 1st, 2025, our family was devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of my beloved baby sister, Nastassia Reid, at just 28 years old.
She was the light of our lives, outgoing, kind-hearted, community-focused, and full of love. She was the one who always put everyone else first.
Even when she was unwell, she pushed through her pain to ensure things were in place for our mother’s memorial. That’s just who she was selfless to the end.
Earlier that week, on July 28th, Nastassia began experiencing severe pain and discomfort. She visited Kingston Public Hospital, but due to excessively long wait times, she left and went to a private doctor. She was prescribed three medications but was advised to delay one until after completing a urine test.
Sadly, her condition worsened over the next few days.
On Friday evening, my brother’s partner rushed her back to the hospital as the pain became unbearable. Though she was admitted, she was left to wait for treatment until the morning. No oxygen was provided despite her struggling to breathe. She was cold, feverish, weak and yet she was only placed on a drip and left alone, in a hospital corridor.
She died before the morning came. Alone. In pain. Without the care she desperately needed.
We believe her death was entirely preventable. The negligence and lack of urgency shown by the hospital has left us with deep wounds, unanswered questions, and a loss we can never recover from. Nastassia deserved better. She deserved to be seen. To be treated. To live.
Nastassia leaves behind a beautiful young daughter, who is still struggling to grasp the heartbreaking reality that her mother is no longer coming home. As we try to support her and our grieving family through this tragedy, we are also trying to raise the funds necessary to give Nastassia the dignified farewell she deserves.
I humbly ask for your help no matter how small to help us cover funeral and burial expenses, and to support her daughter during this traumatic time.
If you’re unable to donate, please share this message so we can reach others who may be able to.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, your prayers, and your support.
Nastassia may be gone, but her spirit, her kindness, and her love will live on in all of us.
Rest in power, my beautiful sister .
