On the first night of Chanukah, our community suffered an unimaginable loss. Our beloved rabbi, teacher, and friend, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, was tragically killed in the Bondi massacre.
Rabbi Eli was an exceptional human being who devoted every part of his life to others. He changed the lives of everyone he interacted with. Always with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a heart open to every question and struggle. Whether you came to him with a personal dilemma, a spiritual question, or simply needed someone to talk to, he always had time. No one was ever turned away. He supported individuals and families through joy and heartbreak, quietly giving of himself in ways most people never saw. Now, he leaves behind his loving wife and five beautiful children, including a newborn baby who will grow up hearing stories of the remarkable father they lost far too soon. Eli devoted his life to our community. He gave us his time, his energy, his wisdom, and his love. In this time of deep grief, we want to come together to give back to the family who gave him to us.
How Your Donation Will Help
All funds raised will go directly to support Rabbi Eli’s family and help ease the enormous burden they now face. Your contribution will help with:
• Immediate living expenses and day-to-day needs for his wife and children
• Childcare and education costs so his children can have stability and opportunity
• Long-term financial security to support the family as they navigate life without their husband and father
Please Give What You Can
No amount is too small. Every donation is an act of kindness in Rabbi Eli’s memory and a message to his family that they are not alone.
If you are unable to give, you can still help by:
• Sharing this page with your networks
• Keeping the Schlanger family in your thoughts and prayers
• Doing a mitzvah or good deed in Rabbi Eli’s memory
Rabbi Eli spent his life lifting others up. Now, in his honour, we have the chance to lift up his family. Please donate generously and help us support the Schlanger family during this heartbreaking time.
