Our beloved Kunal Kashyap (1999–2025) tragically passed away on August 4, 2025, in Burleigh Falls, Peterborough, Canada, after drowning in a tragic accident.
Kunal was just 26 years old — a kind, soft-spoken, and ambitious young man who went to Canada with dreams of a better future. But fate had other plans.
Today, his devastated family in India is desperately trying to bring his body home for his final rites — but we cannot do this alone.
Why We’re Raising Funds
We spoke to Lotus Funeral Home in Canada, and the total cost of repatriating Kunal’s mortal remains to India is approximately $33,000 CAD (~₹22,00,000 INR).
This amount includes:
Funeral home arrangements
International embalming and documentation
Cargo and airline transport fees to India
Kunal’s family simply does not have the means to afford this. And here’s why:
A Family Already Shattered by Loss
Just last year, in April 2024, Kunal’s mother passed away after a prolonged battle with throat cancer. Over ₹30–35 lakhs were spent over two years on her treatments.
To cover this, Kunal’s father:
Took out loans against his retirement savings
Exhausted nearly all his financial resources
Was left with just ₹5–7 lakhs for the rest of his life
And now, he has lost his only son.
Kunal’s father is elderly, emotionally broken, and financially paralyzed. He cannot bear the cost of bringing his son home — and no parent should ever have to go through this alone.
