An actual war has erupted in our home country Sudan! It has left hundreds dead and thousands wounded. Our story: Our immediate family had to evacuate from home. Thank God they were able to evacuate when they did because two days later our family home in Sudan was tragically struck with a stray airborne missile during one of the attacks in the area. My two sisters along with my 10 year old nephew and 42 year old niece, a Cerebral palsey patient, had to endure a dangerous and difficult three part journey. My sisters, nephew, and niece had to travel over 1350 km (838.85 mi) to reach safety. They went from Khartoum to Halfa, then to Aswan (this portion included crossing the border), to be able to reach their final destination Cairo from there. To put things in perspective, this is about the same distance as the drive from the white house all the way to Oklahoma city, Oklahoma. This trip is especially dangerous since they had to travel through khartoum (the heart of all of this conflict) and pass through several checkpoints with enemy soldiers who you must barter with and bribe for safe passage. Most of this journey had to be done without Dalal’s wheel chair which is integral to her mobility and quality of life. She had to be carried and held the whole journey and even stopped eating for some days because of the stress and trauma leaving home caused for her, something she has never had to do. What are the funds for? My niece, Dalal, with CP needs an anatome chair and bath chair that they had to leave behind and they're extremely expensive and we have found no organization that can help us! My family has lost/left everything behind and now they need to start their lives over. We are in dire need for funds to help with the resettlement process and medical care afterwards. We ask for your assistance and compassion. Every little bit helps, please share our story and help our family become whole again despite these terrible circumstances. We’re so grateful you took the time out of your day to listen to our story!
