It is with such sad news that I am writing this note to let you all know that this past week has seen devastation delivered to our beautiful Island of Vanuatu, with not only 1, but 2 Category 4 cyclones pounding us in the matter of 2 days apart. This has never in the history of Vanuatu occurred so it has impacted the homes and families of our beautiful Beachfront Family in varying degrees. I am sure many images and photos have already hit your media channels, and you may be worried about what has gone on and how you can help.
Damien and I are very touched to have received so many messages and phone calls offering to help our guys on the ground over here. We are reaching out further to those that have also grown to love and support these beautiful humans to make their lives a little better at this time.
It is so sad to be doing this again whilst the flood of memories roll in from that devastating night we all survived the Category 5 cyclone PAM in 2015. The innocent, candid, positive and supportive ideas to help fix the devastation through the eyes our 4 year old Zayn is something that will never be forgotten by those that hear it. I just listened to it again this morning and all of what he said is still very much relative to what is happening now in our village.
We were incredibly lucky to have so many beautiful people donate last time we were in need, and in the end, we were able to rebuild a local village school.
This time, our initial focus is to raise enough to get our Beachfront Family and their children back into safe, clean housing, after which we can then look further afield to other local projects that will arise in the near future. Please reach out if you have any further ideas to help our cause.
Lots of Love, Michelle, Damien, Novalea, Zayn and the Beachfront Family xxxx
