help our baby cat Roach walk again

on the morning of Wednesday the 21st of June 2023, one of our nightmares became reality. after not being able to find our sweet cat Roach for her breakfast, we unfortunately found her laying on the roof of the building below the window of our floor, a 16m fall..

we're unsure exactly what happened but we assume Roach fell from the windowsill and landed really badly causing severe breaks in the bones of her front two legs.

we immediately called the animal ambulance and after an emergency visit to the vet, we were told that she'll need surgery to fix her legs due to how bad the breakage is. she'll require metal pins in both and 3 follow up visits for her legs to be recast during the recovery period of 6 weeks.

with the first bill already being 600 euros for the casts, x-rays and medication, the doctor has quoted us 2500 - 3000 euros for the surgery alone and then 3 additional recasts costing 150 euros each time totalling us to needing roughly 4000 euros. unfortunately the hospital does not take payments in instalments and we would require the money first before being able to book the surgery which means there is a lot of time pressure on us as Roach sits now in pain waiting for surgery.

we all desperately ask for your help as we, students with hope to do the right thing, aren't currently in the financial position to fund this ourselves and if we aren't able to go through with the surgery, the only other option would be that she goes to the animal shelter here in Amsterdam who are sadly really full and low on funds meaning it would most likely be the case that they would have to euthanise her.

a lot of people know Roach and love her, our baby cat that we rescued from the streets, who just as loving and cuddly is as mischievous and cheeky. she's roughly a year and a half years old and still has a lot of life to live as well as love to give. we would all love to see her run and hide under the couch after stealing some cheese from the fridge again or climb up on our laundry racks to take a nap or try to snuggle with her friend Nala, our other cat. please help us give her another chance.
