Our Aleks Needs Treatment for Neurogenic Tumour

Our beautiful and energetic 4-year-old boy, Aleks, was recently diagnosed with a neurogenic tumour located in the back of his chest.

It all began with the Epstein-Barr virus he contracted in the spring of 2023. Barely recovered from it, he was then diagnosed with bronchitis. And then he got Covid.

Aleks was attacked by infection after infection and the doctors couldn’t give us any explanation what’s happening.

He was constantly coughing, growing increasingly tired, and unable to engage in any physical activity without immediately becoming breathless.

We had to cancel his swimming lessons, Kung Fu classes, and soon after, we had to withdraw him from nursery too.

Doctors struggled to pinpoint the issue. Aleks' condition rapidly worsened. He began waking up in the middle of the night with leg and knee pain, and his vomiting and coughing intensified.

Finally, we found a doctor who admitted him to the hospital and said she would not discharge him until the problem was identified.

One of the tests she had us do was a head MRI, and because Aleks’ body is still so small, part of his chest showed on the photo.

The initial diagnosis is neurogenic tumour located in the back side of his chest, an area inaccessible to surgeons. It requires a neurosurgeon with specialised expertise, which unfortunately isn't available in the UK.

Our best option lies in a clinic in Germany, where Aleks' medical records have already been sent. They've told us that he’ll need to go through a fresh round of diagnostics before suggesting a treatment plan.

The road ahead is both lengthy and expensive. The hospital is requesting an initial payment of 150,000 euros, a sum far beyond our means.

Please, help us treat our brave little boy and give him a chance to live a normal life doing the things he loves the most.
