Lets start from the beginning. In July our son was complaining of leg pains and was struggling to walk so we took him to the gp who wanted a scan so we went to the hospital who gave him an X-ray,the technician at X-ray said he'd fractured his knee so we were sent to the injury clinic the lady there disagreed and did a referral to the fracture clinic to get their option we were told to wait by the phone he'd be called in soon to figure out what's going on 2 weeks later we get a letter for an appointment take was a week or so away the consultant there looked at him a little and just said he needed an MRI so weeks later we got that appointment. Almost 2 weeks after the MRI we'd had enough and I took him to A&E stating He's lost his appetite, he wasn't walking on his leg at all, he was up most of the night in pain & he still didn't have any diagnosis or walking aids. We were then told to wait in a different waiting room and an hr later we were sent to a room and we were eventually told he had a tumor and we should have been contacted straight after the MRI but the end of the day he'd had more scans and bloods and we were told they suspected Bone cancer it's was later confirmed late September via a biopsy in Birmingham and a scan in nottingham that it's was osteosarcoma (bone cancer) it is localized so he has a good recovery rate how ever it's been hard on him to got from a bubbly tree climbing 8 yr old boy to being wheelchair bound and with his autism he's mentally 4-5 so struggles to understand why this has happened and why we spend most of our time in hospitals that are nowhere near home due to the specialist care he needs.when the tumor is removed he'll also be having his tibia replaced with a metal implant.. hes 1 of 8 so its also been hard for him not seeing his daddy and siblings much so often trys to make friends with the littler children on the ward.Hes an amazing and brave little boy and we are so proud of him. Unfortunately being a low income family has meant all the hospital stay, travel, extra things he's needed and still need has been a nightmare. His wheelchair is only on rental and will need returning at some point and he's also asked to do lots of things when his treatment in over like going on a ship and many more days out and we fill he deserves everything he's asked for but unfortunately we can't afford a lot of it. I'm also on maternity leave so our monthly income is already reduced. Please can you help our son by donating anything that you can so he can have the things he needs to help his mobility, make his treatment more enjoyable & celebrate when one day he'll ring the bell to show that he's beaten bone cancer. Thank you in advance.
Update his tumor has gotten dramatically bigger and has grown into his knee so we have no choice but to have his leg amputated above the knee and his recent scans show more shadows on his lungs.
