Hello Family and Friends!
I am excited to share with you my biggest project to date! I am so grateful for the support I have received over the past few years and am excited to embark on my final project at Syracuse University.

Were you ever taught about female pleasure?
As a French-American, I have noticed the disparity between European and American attitudes when it comes to sexuality and pleasure. In the U.S., sex is extremely taboo. When it comes to pleasure and sexual desire in cinema, women are more often represented as passive objects rather than active agents. Since cinema is often a direct reflection of a society’s attitudes, the current dominant narrative depicting men as sites of sexual pleasure and women as the objects of sexual desire perpetuates the dominant culture of androcentricity in America that deeply affects a woman’s relationship with herself, her partner, and the world.
Oui Jouie is a film about a young woman coming of age in a society that represses female sexuality and pleasure. The inspiration from this film is personal, but relatable, derived from experiences as a young woman growing up in America–where you are constantly barraged by images that objectify women and deny female pleasure.
Female-run sex-tech company Unbound Babes were rejected by the MTA from displaying a nudity-free ad campaign that celebrated female sexuality on the Subway, which is rampant with erectile dysfunction adverts that feature naked men enjoying sex. Films that display female desire and pleasure are automatically rated R or NC-17 while violent murder, rape, and male enjoyment of sex can pass for PG-13.

This story is important because of the silencing of female pleasure in cinema.

PRODUCTION:
This is a period piece that takes place in the early ‘90s, and will be shot in Cleveland, Ohio due to access to an incredible free location in the photos below graciously provided by the Ricciardi and Gulla family. We are so lucky to have access to a location already equipped with most of the set-design and props that we need. Funds that otherwise would have been used for purchasing props and set pieces will now be used to transport crew and equipment from Syracuse, New York to Cleveland, Ohio. Since many of the crew members have cars and have volunteered to drive, we save money on expensive car rentals and allot our transportation budget solely to the cost of gas.
Additionally, we will be saving money through casting both my mother, Florence Playner, and I as the only actresses. Talk about a mother daughter bonding experience!
Acquired props at The Gulla Household in Cleveland, OH.

BUDGET:
Your support will contribute to:
1. $ 3,081
Camera Department: Renting a Arri 16 SS3 will streamline the process of principle photography and enhance the visual aesthetic, giving the film a cellulose look. The camera is instrumental in placing us in the 90s and saving shooting time as we only have a limited amount of film rolls to use. This money will additionally expense the 16mm film rolls, the price for development and processing, and the rental of a Kinoptik 5.7mm lens to create a close to fisheye visual aesthetic.
2. $30
Art & Styling: Most of our art thankfully is being borrowed or we have already acquired.
3. $667
Transportation costs: Paying for gas and tolls to transport our 15 person crew and equipment to Cleveland, Ohio, a 5-hour drive from New York.
4. $400
Food: Making sure our amazing crew and talent has adequate breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks throughout the three day shoot.
5. $100
Lighting Gear.
6. $160
Purchasing Two Hard Drives in order to double back up the film and the original score.
7. $900
Film Processing and Developing.
8. $700
Post Production (Color & Sound).
9. $300
